Spoiler Alert: Dior 2021 Beauty Advent Calendar Revealed

Really, there’s no secret to the content of the Dior advent calendar. When you purchase it, there’s already the product description on the outside. And also, if you're a Dior fan, it is also quite hard to dodge the unboxing videos on social media. I'm guilty of posting up the unboxing video almost the next day after I gotten the advent calendar. Not to spoil the fun and destroy the spirit of advent calendar, but the excitement is another level that I can't contain. 

I'm going to be very honest with the review here. So, click on to read the unexpected:

This is a 24-days advent calendar, it starts from 1 until 24 which is the finale. Below are the items included and I have also breakdown the product price so you can also weigh the value vs price. This advent calendar is priced at RM1780.

Pros:

• Hands down, Dior probably has the most beautiful advent calendar every year. Although the structure is the same annually, the design changes according to the current theme of the brand. The box resembles Dior's flagship store at 30 Montaigne Paris. This year, Dior is collaborating with artist Alice Shirley who has a really good vision in bringing the dreamy couture ambiance to come alive. 
• The selection of products are carefully thought of. I like the balance of skincare, perfume, makeups and candle as the finale. These are also the usual Dior best-sellers, so they are really good stuff.
• The size of the products are good as well. They come in travel or deluxe size. So you are able to sample the products thoroughly. 
• The total value from the breakdown is RM2261.70. I check the full price and divided by ml and multiply it with the size of the advent calendar products. Since this is retail at RM1780, you do get an additional RM481.70 excess of products. In dollar and cents term, you do get a good value out of this purchase and as a bonus, it comes in a beautifully packaged box. 

Cons:

• If you an avid Dior beauty product user, the items featured are pretty "normal". There's no limited edition stuff, except for the candle that comes in a festive print. I get most of the deluxe and travel-sized items for free from my Dior SA from time to time. In previous years, Dior usually include one or two special item such as their costume jewelry, Christmas tree ornament or snow globe. It gives a sense of exclusivity when you obtain the limited merchandise that's only available from the advent calendar. In absence of such limited edition product, they have replaced with the candle. There's nothing special about it too, since I already have the full size candle in the same exact scent. 
• In terms of value, it is a question of perspective. Since I have most of the stuff already, it's not really worth it. 
• They did not include Dior Backstage products which I find it unfortunate. Dior Backstage has extremely quality products, some items even surpass the quality of the Dior Prestige line. I'm not sure why they did not push the Dior Backstage range. 
• There are too many fragrances in the set. Perfumes take up almost one third of the content. If they could include a blush or eyeshadow that would be great. 
• It is very hard to get the Dior advent calendar, even harder in Malaysia. Each sale assistant is given 1 unit quota. So they have to select who they want to sell to. If you're not a frequent patron at Dior, they might not sell it to you. In other words, the SA will offer it out to their regular customers. I think this is not a very fair system since the regulars probably already own most of the products anyway. Due to this, some people are selling it at much higher price online.
