Bobbi Brown Primer Plus Protection SPF 50 PA+++ Review

It is crucial to use a good primer if you are using a foundation. This is because a primer can multitask in protecting your skin, as well as preserving your foundation. I've seen some beauty YouTuber using the Bobbi Brown Primer Plus Protection as their base and it got me intrigued because everyone claims it is lightweight and hydrating. There is only one way to find out, which is to try it myself.

Brand: Bobbi Brown
Product name: Primer Plus Protection SPF 50 PA+++ Base de Tint
Price: RM153
Size: 40ml
Price breakdown: RM3.82/1ml
Rating:

Pros:

  • Suitable for all skin types. Even sensitive skin can find this really easy to use.
  • It comes with SPF, so you can skip the sunblock and just use this one product as your makeup base. I think the feature I love the most about this product is the hybrid function of sun protection and primer.
  • The texture is very lightweight. Almost feels like it's not on the skin at all. When applying the foundation, it gives a really good base so that your foundation looks evenly applied.
  • The formula is hydrating. It doesn't clog the pores and it feels as good as applying moisturizer to your skin.
  • It is paraben-free and sulfate-free, generally, it is suitable for sensitive skin.
  • The reasonable price is also worth mentioning. For a good quality primer, the price of RM3.82 is pretty reasonable.

Cons:

  • The SPF is not high. If you are constantly being exposed to the sun during the day, you might need to apply another layer of SPF before your foundation.
  • The packaging is the worst! The product is very fluid, but the tube packaging doesn't hold it at all, so the product keeps spilling out and making a mess. I wish it comes in a pump bottle so it doesn't spill. Because of the poorly designed packaging, you will find a lot of wastage.
  • For those who have been an avid user of silicon-based primers, this primer might not be an immediate favorite. Because of the product character that targets more on hydration, it does not help in covering large pores like how the silicon-based primer does.
