When Chanel first tease us with the red camellia newsletter, I was intrigued. My guess was a new fragrance, but it turns out to be an entirely new product range from Chanel. The No.1 range from Chanel uses the recently discovered red camellia as an active ingredient. And the bonus is - this range offers an eco-sustainable packaging. The products are packed in recycled and reusable packaging, and the product information print-outs have been minimized into a printed QR code on the box.
To feed my curiosity, I purchased the star product which is the Revitalizing Serum. Click below to read the full review.

Product description:
The red camellia is a flower unlike any other and the key ingredient in N°1 DE CHANEL. A flower with revitalizing powers, whose extraordinary energy gives it perennial youth.
CHANEL Research has harnessed its exceptional properties to create a new generation of products, including skincare, makeup, and a fragrance mist.
At the core of the N°1 DE CHANEL sustainable beauty line, red camellia extract targets stage N°1 of the skin aging process, working to prevent and correct the appearance of the 5 signs of aging.
After applying the N°1 DE CHANEL skincare ritual, wrinkles appear diminished, pores are visibly refined, and the skin's elasticity is restored. It feels more comfortable and glows with vitality.
Concentrated with red camellia extract, an active ingredient that boosts cellular vitality, the N°1 DE CHANEL serum absorbs quickly into the skin and works to combat external aggressors that are present in urban environments. Its formula contains 95% naturally derived ingredients and 76% camellia-derived ingredients. Immediately after application, the skin appears healthier (+30%(1)) and better protected from environmental aggressors (+32%(1)).
Pros:
- My skin was visibly improved overnight. The most obvious improvement would be the brightness and even skin texture. The skin feels moisturized when applied and the next day it feels hydrated even though I sleep in full blast aircond at night. However, I see no difference on my fine lines.
- It has a very pleasant scent of light floral.
- The texture of the product is non-sticky and very comfortable on the skin.
Cons:
- The whole eco-friendly packaging thing is more like a marketing gimmick. As a consumer, I don't feel like there's any positive impact from it.
- The results is quite slow for my skin. For the same amount of price, serum from other brands such as the SK-II Genoptics works faster. The caveat here is, they did mention this serum is for pre-mature skin for those in their early 30s. Clearly, it is not market for my age group.
